Mobile Comms
At the moment, mobile comms is one of the most exciting areas in communications. The holy grail of having access to data communications and the Internet anywhere at any time looks set to become reality within the next five to ten years.
In this article, I'm not going to go into details of how mobile phones work. If you want to know about that, there are many articles available on the web, such as this fool.com special but I will give an overview of the various generations of mobile comms and their suitability for data comms.
Over the next few pages, I will talk about current mobile comms technology, the near future (next two or so years), and the middle future (next five to ten years) of comms.
